Plans for a new outdoor skating rink will be available for viewing and comments at Lakeview Fun Day on May 24th and at an open house and special general meeting at the Lakeview Community Association on May 28 from 6pm to 9pm. the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a vote.
The Lakeview Rink Enhancement committee has been working on a project to upgrade our hockey rink with new boards on a concrete pad. The committee has already applied for various grants from the City, Province and Parks Foundation. As part of the application process, the committee has received letters of support from Councilor Brian Pincott, MLA Linda Johnson, the LCA, the City’s Community Partnerships department, and the Calgary Board of Education. Grants are expected to be complemented by fundraising, particularly corporate contributions and local donations.
The meeting will give Lakeview residents a chance to engage with the rink committee, view and comment on the rink plans.
At the Open House, the LCA will also be holding a Special General Meeting for LCA members to vote on the project. We strongly encourage all Lakeview residents to attend this meeting, as this vote will determine if we move forward with this project.
