Alderman provides update on Lakeview road closures

Re:     LAKEVIEW STORM SEWER UPDATE

I just received an update on the Lakeview Storm Sewer upgrade work from the project team that I wanted to share with you. There are some changes to the notice that was sent out to residents by the contractor last week.

With the work on the first block of 63rd Ave being completed last week, they were ready to move to the remainder of the work on 63rd. But, that has been delayed because it is now too cold to pave. So, the paving should be done next week instead. However, that paving will be base coat only, with the final layer being put down next spring. (they need several days of at least 15 degrees for the top layer to go down).

As well, the work at Linden Drive and Lindstrom Drive which was scheduled for this year has also been deferred until next year. The City just doesn’t want to take the chance of the contractor not being able to finish and get it asphalted, leaving it as dirt over the winter.

As well, the next phase to this project requires funding. This will most likely happen when City Council does our budget at the end of November. Once the funding is approved, that phase of the project will be tendered and the City will have plans to share with people.

I will continue to keep you updated as this project progresses, and as new information is released.

I would also like to thank you for your patience and understanding. This is a very large project to refit the storm sewers throughout Lakeview and get them up to standard.

Thanks, and have a great snowy week.

Sincerely,

Brian
